After seeing mentions of this title on the forum, I’m interested in procuring a copy.

I can find copies online from large used book retailers for $250 (1931 first ed) and $160 (1993 reprint). Cheaper listings pop up sporadically.

Instead of using one of these sites which will take a considerable margin, wondering if any forum members would be willing to part with this title for a lesser price.

Thanks,
Noah

I have a 1931 first edition but it's not for sale or for sale cheap. 😉

Speaking of "particular appeal to us PA anglers," there were two well known titles for sale in this group:

Is it for sale for less than $250? There’s one listing on line that’s been sitting at that price for a while.

Just curious, what is the fascination of the book, that's a pricey book. Must have some hidden secrets.
I found it to be a very interesting account of how the fishing used to be in central PA "back in the day"

I learned to fly fish in north central PA, and still have great fondness for the area
And really enjoy historical volumes like this

FWIW - It's a more obscure book, but if you want some more recounting of PA fishing in the past, seek out a copy of The "Determined Angler and the Brook Trout," by Charles Bradford or read it here.

I have the same 1916 edition as the one in the link above in my library, gifted to me by an old fishin' buddy from Brooklyn because of its PA content.

Several Pocono streams are mentioned in Chapter X - "Troutng in Canadensis Valley." Some are well known, some not as well known.

I chased down a few of those streams after reading the book. 😉

Couldn't agree more. That book just takes you back in time. I'm happy to have a copy.

Definitely keep looking at that price. I have a couple first editions and a second edition and I don't think I paid more than $100 combined for all three, although maybe they have become more obscure over the past 10 years. I'll sell a first edition for $249
🙂

Mostly nostalgia for a bygone era. It's a compilation of newspaper articles, so I take it's contents somewhat with a grain of salt. Authors write newspaper articles to sell newspapers, although there is certainly some historical accuracy present.
