Wrap Color Ideas for a Blue Blank?

One of the colors I ordered is 'tangerine' NOCP colorfast thread. That might work for this GT40 idea. I'll post some more test wraps with the other colors in the coming weeks when I get that far. With the cheap shipping, might not see the thread til early the week after next week.

It's always fun trying to pick out thread colors. I probably have 50 spools of different colors, and still end up buying more.
I think a dark blue, then tipped with that orange or tangerine would be sweet.
 
Alright; finally getting back to this; these are all new thread colors not shown yet. All but the two 'jasper' style threads are colorfast without color preserver, but in my experience even the colorfast threads do change a little, depending on the finish used. Always a good idea to do a full-on test with the actual finish, which I plan to do once I finalize the thread colors.

Fourth from the bottom - and that’s my final answer
 
Dear Cinnamon Joe,

Is there a color two shades darker than the 3rd from the bottom. When dried that color would be probably close to looking like a clear wrap. If you go a little darker and tip it with silver, I think it would look great to me.

Personally, I'm not big on widely contrasting colors and anything variegated with metallic bling might as well have some additional bling added with the "Bedazzler". IYKYK. But what do I know? Out of about 35 fly rods most are wrapped in some shade of brown from the factory or the builder. The lone exceptions being a Sage RPLXi and a TFO Mangrove Coast, both blanks are blue, and a couple of Loomis and Scott rods are somewhat graphite in color and their wraps are graphite or black in color.

I really really do not like no-cp threads as anything other than trim bands but....

I would go with the light blue with a single turn of back trim, but several other colors from that selection would make nice trim bands if kept to only a couple turns.

I have never regretted being conservative and subdued when choosing the main color of my rod wraps.
 
As I said ealrier, soak some vegetable oil into 'em and they'll look very similar to what they looked like varnished.

Steve McQueen's GT40 is calling to you with that 4th up orange and black trim.

Never too late! I will decide on colors when I start wrapping the guides. All this input has been helpful & appreciated.

So, I fibbed a few posts back. Haven't quite made my mind up yet. LOL

I came up with this idea as a way to decompress this evening. Things are starting to get serious. Notice, we have a guide involved now, and a trim wrap.
