I was; yes. That was the closest I could readily find at a reasonable price. Its a thread called, 'Tiger' that Mudhole sells. Its not silk.

I like this color combo but I hope that is just a test and you are going to re-wrap that guide. It's gonna look like hell with all those gaps and crossed threads.

Yes, I threw that together very quickly last night, and without my magnifier lens even.
That said, I am not the most skilled or talented builder, not even close! LOL
That guide is actually even installed backwards on the blank.

That orange & black is intense seen 'in person'. Like, I mean, its almost a little over the top.
My 14 yr old daughter said it looked like 'plastic'. LOL

Wait until you put finish on a color preserved thread wrap. They look really cheesy, hence my previous comments.
Do yourself a favor and get some regular thread in a blue color that matches the blank or a couple shades lighter. A very pale blue will practically be a transparent wrap.
There are several nice colors of blue that would work on that blank. Greys, particularly light shades might work also.

FWIW, Pro Wrap is not my favorite thread for wrapping rods, but their color selection is pretty dang good so I end up using it frequently. I prefer Fuji thread nowadays.

I'll try; that blue shown a few post back with the orange was my 1st attempt at a lighter shade of blue; albeit it is colorfast thread, so I could try a non-CP light blue or even a silk light blue.
Anyways, its fun trying all these out. LOL

If you don't like the bright colors...try a silk that gives a completely transparent wrap. You will see the guide and you can make trim bands with black India ink.
