I do whip finish by hand. I've often felt that the tool might be a little more precise. More forgiving.

I honestly don't even know how to use a whip finish tool. I've always done it by hand. I don't think it makes a difference.

This minnow pattern worked well for opening day 2022.
the bottom one has a feather added, not sure if it is needed but I tied up a few both ways mainly in size 12
I UV the underbody prior to adding the bucktail, flash, and optional feather.
the feather is from the neck of a cap

I did not get out to dry fly fish enough this past year. With the cold front coming I am dreaming of warm days with two of my favorite classic dry fly patterns. Elk Hair Caddis and Adams in size 14 & 16.

I like the Moose Body Tail on the Adams...definitely provides the fly more stability to ride high. I'd also recommend that you keep that build the same and tie some up with a yellow body and some w/chartreuse green. Trust me...they are killer 👍

Will definitely give those a shot. Thanks for the tip!

So the weird part is I don't tie flies, but it seems like every year we start a new "What are you tying today". so should I start a new "What are you tying today"?
Why not...I might get in on the action...depends on the weather and my bourbon supply 😉
