Probably my favorite fly. Variations in this format covers everything IMO. I’ll switch the head out to wool or I will throw a zonker in there if I want some bulk. Heavy eyes, or not. Then the colors.. I love it!

This is a very affective Gaspe pattern that was originally made for fishing the Dartmouth River. Andre Belaieff invented it. Andre lived in the town of Gaspe for a time, were he ran a small fly shop. He has since left Gaspe but still fishes, guides and teaches on the Gaspe.

Been popping some lake-run landlocks:

#6 Black Bugger. No weight and super slim - very different than my trout buggers.

But today and yesterday they've been eating Golden Retrievers and tiny #12...

Those couldn't be much different than the streamers I've been tying. That's a #1 B10S. The fly is pushing 4.5".

Ha! Yeah, I suspect the LLs would actively run from those. 😂 I'm sure they work for pre-spawn browns, though!

I think it is called "Fur the Moment". It's from Hobby Lobby. It is essentially synthetic zonker strip. You get sixty yards of it for $7 or $8.
