Here is a different take on a sulphur nymph I have found to be very effective. Split case style. A little fiddly to tie and probably unnecessary but I dig it:

The fly is basically the Single Nut Job by Brandon Ruch - he has an excellent video for it on Shultz YouTube channel.Surprises me you haven’t had success. That looks like an awesome fly for smallmouth, especially early spring. I may use your pic to try and tie some myself. Nice fly!

Whipped out a batch of flies for an upcoming trip to the ADK, everything from brookies to SMB and pike. Happy with Joe's smelt (the mallard flank wing) but need to work on the hair on the warden's worry after. Curious about the TeQueely at the end which is an older pattern
