What Are You Tying Today? 2026

I’m going to need to lean on a few of you guys because I spend a week on Otisco lake in the summer and I’m going to take my 8 weight to try to catch a few Tiger Muskies. What I’m saying is I have no clue. Lol

Sone zonker/bunny streamers. I haven't fished rabbit streamers in years.

Going to try and up my dry fly game this year.
First Adams off of the vise.. Need to get the hackle gauge out and really watch my proportions.

That will work very well. For what it's worth, I prefer tan/brown dubbing over gray for the Adams. Maybe that means it's not an Adams anymore, but many mayflies have tan/brown bodies, but gray, not so much.

These are awesome. So are the pink ones in the back. Would you be interested in selling a few for an upcoming trip to Alaska this summer? My guide buddy told me to bring pink mice and I think those would be perfect.

Sure, I’m making up some pink ones for a Alaskan guide as we speak, He also wants a couple Zora spooks done in pink😎

You don't have to give away a spot, but I'm wondering if you caught those smallmouth near the Altoona-Johnstown area. I never fished for bass in April, but I'd sure give it a shot if they'll eat now. I always considered them a summer activity.

Your hackle isn't that far off from true and quite honestly I wouldn't worry too much about it. I dont get super concerned with it being a little long or if I dont have the exact hackle size when I measure and pull one from the neck because it gives you the on-stream flexibility to trim that hackle so the fly rides closer to the water. If it's too short, that's a completely different story. I often trim just the center of the hackle thats in line with and below the hook shank as you would a Harrop Hairwing or Vis-A-Dun.
