I've had quite a bit of luck with an older version of the Racoon that used a grizzly hackle tips as the tail and deer hair instead of foam for the back. I always tied on #18 and smaller and fished it dry as an emerging midge.
Very nice tie. I would suspect that you have quite the inventory of floss on your hands...![]()

This is an awesome fly!Extended Body Female Hendrickson
Stole the dubbing idea from the Davy McPhail thread, just mixed it in with the deer hair wing.

Question - I very rarely tie streamers due to the fact that I never fish them. In today's world of floss, What would you be purchasing if you were starting all over again? I'll start acquiring some and tie a few steamers at some point.yes i have a few spools of floss

I have a bunch of “I don’t know what” silk thread that was made in England (very small spools) 45 meters I think (spool is white with a white label on one side and gold text). that I bought from my local shop many years ago that I still use when tying some particular wet fly patterns. Thanks for the advice on the floss. I’ll get some and see if I can still tie a nice floss body.uni stretch

i also have uni floss single strand floss but its not my go to floss. i just dont like it
