What Are You Tying Today? 2026

Been away from the bench because of things keeping me from staying up later, which is my tying time.

I had to jump on and throw this together tonight, though, because a video made me realize the turkey quills that have been in a bundle in front of me for years include biots. I've never tied with turkey biots because I didn't know what they looked like in feather form or that I had some in my possession 😂

Thanks man I appreciate it. I too enjoy seeing more localized fishing content, what flies are being tied or fish being caught from guys and gals in the PA area.

Reading about the trico hatches on the LL this morning got me excited for summer and also inspired to tie up a trico spinner. Here’s my first attempt on a size 18 2x short emerger hook

That is a great looking Hornberg. It's one of those classic flies you use to hear so much about. In 40 years of fly fishing I Have never caught a fish on one.

That's a really cool mouse pattern, I'll have to try it out. The smallies will crush that thing

Size 6 for smallies. It's kind of a mix of patterns. I see a lot of small panfish around the Susquehanna this time of year. I like the Clouser style to avoid snags. No glue except a drop on the eyes. I think it's important to avoid a lot unnatural smells.
