Recent Rain

That sux . I know of at least 4 members from both here and another site that are headed there now. The plan was 3 days Yellowstone , then 4 days at St. Regis. That's supposed to be prime trout waters about now.

Keep in mind this is only 3 rivers. Madison, Gibbon and Firehole which are all affected by the Geysers and hot springs. These 3 rivers are usually under Hoot owl by early July.

True above. The hoot owl is for "in the Yellowstone National park" rivers, quite the opposite for the other hundreds or thousands of streams and rivers in Montana; most are still high because of spring runoff.

We had tornado warnings in Delco and Chesco last evening followed by 55 MPH winds and torrential rain. Myself and lots of neighbors lost trees. Homes are running on generator power and the electric company is estimating 11PM Sunday night for power restoration.

The good news is my wife said I can get a new lawn mower:

The rivers in the northern part of park usually stay good all summer-Lamar, Soda Butte, Slough Creek. In the south the Bechler stays cool also. And the lakes and ponds. Still lots of fishing in Yellowstone. As far as back this way, well, I guess its safe to go back to the Catskills

Heading to Bozeman Tuesday for a couple days fishing then over to the Livingston area for a couple days. The extended weather forecast looks pretty good that week.

Those storms cooled it off. My dad says its 60 in Boise today. It was pushing triple digits last week.

Here comes another area of heavy rain. Guessing western areas like E-town could be very bad.

I don't have a rain gauge but I wouldn't be surprised if we got three inches since 5:00.

Edit: raindrop says 3.45". Who needs a rain gauge when you can just glance in bucket you left outside?

Localized 6-7" amounts with still another round to go. Widespread 4"+. Stay safe out there! This is 100-year flood type of rain amounts.
