Precision Fly and Tackle Opening New Shop in Allison Park (Pittsburgh)

Dear dudemanspecial,

While I have often lamented the loss of sole proprietor fly shops I have been dealing with Precision Fly and Tackle at their original Mt. Holly Springs location for many years. If they provide the same level of service at this new store that they do at the location I visit it should be a welcomed addition.

Regards,

Tim Murphy 🙂

I have shopped in the flyfishers paradise location a few times and have no complaints.

I wish them luck. Not an ideal location due to parking and traffic. Route 8 is and can be dangerous trying to cross in that area coming from the north. I just don't see how a shop there could make money. Back in the day the building I believe was the old Barkus bakery.

I have to imagine that they did some research in terms of the location. It’s not where I would have expected a new shop to go. My assumption if we got a new shop was that it would be TCO and it would be somewhere on 22 near murrysville.

At this point, PFT is actually saving small fly shops by acquiring them. In days of old, I would agree that a bigger fish eating a smaller fish (pardon the pun) isn't a good thing. In this case though, it's just super difficult for small fly shops to survive. Pretty impressive with how PFT has been able to expand its footprint. I still can't believe they haven't opened a shop in the Lehigh Valley yet!

Yeah it seems pretty evident that they are doing something right business wise.
