As the old saying goes, "you know where the door is".Constant thread derailment is why I don't hang out here much these days.

I copied and pasted the email I got from the state. I clearly missed a letter and will fix thanks!!I'm confused...
I took this post as nothing more than an FYI from Dave about the upcoming fall stocking schedule (BTW Dave, you have a typo in the title; ALL instead of FALL 😉 )...
Not a thread to discuss the merits or lack thereof of stocking in PA.
Similar to announcements made about fishing shows or new fly shops. However the folks (like me) who wouldn't bother going to a fishing show or fly shop don't automatically use it as opportunity to chime in on those threads about why we don't....
That may explain some of the angst and weariness for folks (also like me) who don't spend every online hour looking for segues to espouse their dislike for trout stocking.
Going forward, maybe announcements of this type should be locked for comment lest someone gets their knickers in twist one way or the other and save the bickering for threads specifically created for that purpose.
I've been accused of being a dictator in the past, so there really is telling what can happen.I'm confused...

Yes, but once in a while I like to check in on the drama in the hope that there'll be something useful in the content. As the old saying goes, "you know where the door is".
So asking to not turn threads that aren't about brook trout into threads about brook trout = suppression of talk of wild brook trout? Interesting logic.Yes, but here, fixed it for you:
"We had this problem before and it got out of hand. We are not going there again. If you forget here is an announcement about the issues - Thread Derailments and Brookie Conversations
If you are not doing this and just being constructive thanks.
BTW this was a thread about stocking NOT wild brook trout."
Right? Derailing the stocking thread with a warning about not derailing threads by discussing wild brook trout in a thread that wasn't about wild brook trout at all, but somehow prompted a warning about wild brook trout, seemed weird to me too.So asking to not turn threads that aren't about brook trout into threads about brook trout = suppression of talk of wild brook trout? Interesting logic.
If I could get to my "gemmie" streams for $66.58 round trip, I would have made numerous mountain trips this summer.Ten times when stockers, rock..
3. You want to fish for trout, but with gas prices where they're at currently, it will cost you $33.29 each way to fish for 4" gemmies.
Dear FisherOfMen,We should keep making the thread about brook trout, I guess.
Using the link I was actually surprised how little they fall stock Potter & Tioga Counties.
Don't you mean ten times you found a lame excuse to use the phrase "the PAFF 'Gemmie/Wild Trout Uber Alles' gang"? You seem quite proud of making that up, but what a weird flex. I have a buddy Down Under who targets gemmies, but fly tackle wouldn't work at those depths. Besides, there are no gemmies in this hemisphere.Ten times when stockers, rock..
10. You want to fish for trout, but the PAFF "Gemmie/Wild Trout Uber Alles" gang has imposed so many guilt laden restrictions on when to or when NOT to fish for wild trout that it's just easier to target stockers or sunfish.
...Oh, wait... Another PAFF OG just messaged me that by "gemmie" you might be referring to brookies, and suggested you're using that name to bypass the strictly enforced PAFF rule on discussing "wild brook trout." Nice try, but Dave's a pretty smart guy, and this ain't his first rodeo. I don't think he'll fall for it. 🤣🤣
Please stay on the topic of the original post."Wild brook trout"
There, I said it...
I agree and see that.Dear FisherOfMen,
They mostly stock the lakes that they stock and open in the preseason, so the stocked trout crackheads always have a chance at fish.
Losing money to gain customers may work for Wal-Mart, but it's not sustainable for the PFBC.

Tim Murphy 🙂
Tim, most people here support wild brook trout and enjoy fishing for them. You know that, and you know the topic isn’t banned.I heard about that a while back when I wasn't active on PAFF, but thought it was a joke or exaggeration. You really want to suppress discussion of wild brook trout? Our state fish? The only native stream-dwelling salmonid in the state? I didn't read the old thread, but just to be clear, are you saying that's off limits? If so, WTF? What's with the specific bias?
It seems to me, that just about every thread on this forum gets hijacked by a handful of regulars. Do you remind them to keep the discussion on topic, or only when it comes to wild brook trout? SMH.
BTW, stocking and wild brook trout are intertwined in PA. IMO, you can't separate the two. It's the over-obsession with stocked invasives that's led to the decline of wild brook trout in many streams I've fished over the years. Continued stocking contributes to continued decline.
No wonder trout anglers are increasingly seen as out-of-touch by conservation groups, non-profits, land managers, foresters, naturalists, watershed stewards, paddlers, hikers, hunters, birders, bass anglers... I spend more time rubbing elbows with those folks, and I've seen a significant shift in the outdoor community's attitude regarding trout anglers, harmful stocking practices, and non-native species. It's refreshing to see that shift. Maybe someday it'll trickle down to PAFF
I agree and see that.
Why im surprised by it is because with the restocking of Freeman Run, I figured more greedy flat landers with cabins and starving locals would have petitioned for more fall stockings by now.
Also, can someone please make some "Gemmie/Brook Trout/Wild Trout Uber Alles" merch?
I'd buy a load of it. Especially the Gemmie/Brook Trout version, Mugs, shirts, patches....View attachment 1641254125
Where's the "none of the above" option? 😉Which is better for wild trout:
1) Fishing for wild trout?
2) Fishing for stocked trout?
