So CVTU did/arranged the work?

Stream work is a sticky wicket because I'm sure a lot of it is done for habitat reasons, not necessarily to improve the fishing, but I can't speak to this project and it's original intentions...

All I know is the PFBC needs to pull out of Section 03 and NOW and let the chips fall where they may...

I can’t say for sure but the presidents of CVTU for the last decade or so are closely associated with Precision and TCO … fill in the blanks

It not so much about being alone or the difference between the wild or stocked experience, it's about a private entity restricting access to fish provided for by our license dollars.

It would be no different than a private property owner on one of the creeks you like accepting PFBC monies for access or improvements and then posting that property.

The only difference is less people would be pi$$ed off... 😉

Supposedly, the improvements were designed and done by the Cumberland County Conservation Society with the help of TU. Which explains how terrible they are.

It begs the question as to YBA co-op nursery blurring the lines between state funded and private interest - lines I really don’t care for anyhow

Why do I get the feeling the PFBC will continue stocking and unimportant and unconnected schlubs like me will never get a permit...
 
This may be way off base as , to my knowledge, there is nothing formal, but there was always an understanding that the tubers and kayakers would pull out at the western edge of the special regs area and put back in below it. And, yes, they want to build a Homewood Suites style complex on the 40 acres fronting BS Road-tearing down the playhouse to make more room-as to how long it has been a spec regs area, I fished it in the 60s when it was 1 fish 20 inches or better and you could fish in the dark.
 
Another long time fan of this section having fished it for over forty years. . . so yes, this is regrettable.

I was there this morning and saw the signs too, posted on both ends of the reg water. I walked around Allenberry today (didn't fish), but there were a fair number of anglers, I think, much fewer than was typical back in the day for a nice weather day in March.

Will be interested to see how this plays out. I had not thought about the issue of public stocking - Bamboozle makes a good point. I am not aware of any similar situation in PA where the state stocks a section of stream that has access limited to permits from the landowner. Can anyone think of any such scenarios?
 
So much of this stream is posted anymore. I remember moving to the area about 8 years ago. I went up on an Opening Day along Creek Rd and had never seen anything like it. Cars everywhere, people elbow to elbow.

Really is a shame this is the route they are going as I agree with many that it will eventually only be for paying guests of Allenberry or TCO clients. Either that or there will be so many people that ignore the “permit” and it will end up being posted as well.

We’re just patterning the elitism of the sport after England - the rich or privileged get to play on a manicured course - all we need now is a river keeper living in a hut along the water’s edge
 
This is what PFBC is protecting with the pay-for-play private stockings over class A stream exemptions. Its disgusting that so many people support this nonsense. The science doesn't support it, the public doesnt support it, but the good ole boys club does, so the commission let's it slide.
 
Definitely regrettable and if Allenberry wants to limit access the PAFBC and YB Anglers shouldn’t put another trout in that stretch. That being said that stretch of the YB is about the last place on the stream I would elect to fish. Crowded, slow moving featureless water. The entire stream is quite overrated but the special regs section is particularly unappealing to me.
 
Im pretty sure that NONE of this will be highlighted in an upcoming issue of Fly Fisheman - or mentioned at the Harrisburg Fly Fishers banquet this year 🙄
 
Stuff like this happens all the time in different ways, sometime is it total exclusion like when a local landowner posts his or her property and other times it's a special regulation section that only excludes certain types of anglers... 🙄

But it IS private property and I respect the landowners right to do what they want to do...

I won't argue the point that there are better places to fish. I haven't fished there in almost 20 years, but there ARE folks that like fishing there and there is a lot of history for a lot of folks.

My ONLY beef is the PFBC shouldn't be stocking that section any more. It's no different than when access is denied on other stocked sections except in this situation there is a ruse going on to make it appear that it isn't totally exclusionary to the public.

All I know is I'm going to ***** about it until the stocking PFBC stocking stops and the special regulation goes away, OR...

The Allenberry gives me lifetime pass that I can sublet to another person on a daily basis... 😉
 
Thankfully being in my seventies now, I got to fish the Yellow Breeches from the lake spillway down to the dam at the Allenberry many times over the last thirty plus years. I haven’t fished it in about eleven years. I never thought it was overcrowded but maybe things have changed since I fished it last.
