I respectfully disagree. We are endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights, which are succinctly enumerated in the Declaration of Independence as the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. These are natural rights of all individuals, granted by God. I categorize the right to hunt and fish in the rights to liberty and the pursuit of happiness categories mentioned above. Not all that long ago, and maybe still, the right to hunt and fish could also have been categorized in the right to life because people need to be able to feed themselves in order to live. They are using the proper legal process to push their agenda, nothing wrong with that at all. If the people of Oregon vote for it (we all know they won't) or against it, and the Oregon government ratifies it, then democracy worked.
Just because the proper legal process is used, and something becomes law, doesn't necessarily mean democracy worked. It simply means it got the needed votes to become law. I've seen more than enough laws get passed that should not have. Just because you can do something, doesn't always mean you should. They are using the proper legal process to push their agenda, nothing wrong with that at all. If the people of Oregon vote for it (we all know they won't) or against it, and the Oregon government ratifies it, then democracy worked.
Why do we have to resort to spot burning?Wow. The idea that Jesus Christ and George Washington are fist bumping in heaven over our innate right to stab a German trout in the face with a squirmy worm on a creek behind an Amazon warehouse in Altoona only to let it go without eating it...
This thread is going to rule.
Skook thats a fair argument, and thats all I'm gonna say about that because we are already walking the line of political discussion.I respectfully disagree. A decision by a majority of the electorate, even if accomplished through a democratic process, does not supersede these rights granted to us by our Creator. The government is charged with guaranteeing and protecting our individual natural rights, but neither a government nor a majority of individuals has the right to take them away.
Just think of all the terrible things that could happen by a simple majority rule. Thankfully, the Constitution was put in place to guarantee the God-given rights of individuals, not to guarantee simple majority rule.
I'll take the under on locked by 8:00 AM.Skook thats a fair argument, and thats all I'm gonna say about that because we are already walking the line of political discussion.

"We all know they won't."
That's correct. It will get defeated by a very wide margin. Everyone knows his, even the proponents.
So why get excited by a proposal that everyone knows has no chance of passing?
I’m from Altoona. Please do not spot burn my honey hole. Seriously, my son-in-law is from Madras, Oregon. He grew up hunting and fishing. There is no way this will be enacted.Wow. Deepest apologies. I have heard on good authority that all the fish behind the Altoona Amazon warehouse spontaneously combusted with Jeff Bezos' rocket. General public: do not pursue this spot!I’m from Altoona. Please do not spot burn my honey hole. Seriously, my son-in-law is from Madras, Oregon. He grew up hunting and fishing. I doubt it will even come close to passing, but plus one for using the democratic process. They are using the proper legal process to push their agenda, nothing wrong with that at all.
