Agree. I only point this out to illustrate the disparity between those who live in rural Oregon verses those who live on the coast. As someone who has fished tailwaters in eastern Oregon, I'd hate to this legislation pass.

It has no chance at all of passing. People in both eastern and western Oregon would vote against it in overwhelming numbers.

It's like a proposition to ban ice cream. It's nonsense.

They didn't even get enough signatures to get it on the ballot, so it won't even come up for a vote.

In some ways it might have been better if it had come for a vote, so everyone could see it fail overwhelmingly.

I couldn't find any poll of Oregon voters on this. Apparently, no poll has been done.

If it would come up for a vote, what do yinz estimate the percentages for and against would be?

Just because the proper legal process is used, and something becomes law, doesn't necessarily mean democracy worked. It simply means it got the needed votes to become law. I've seen more than enough laws get passed that should not have. Just because you can do something, doesn't always mean you should.

"Property" was replaced with "Pursuit of happiness" by the founding fathers. I believe the primary reason was to be inclusive of all citizens. They (Jefferson ?) took Lockes' concept and adapted for a country that wasn't meant to be nobility centric. It was meant to be more encompassing rather than limiting of property ownership rights.

If we've learned anything from polling data from recent elections (if there had been a poll) the data probably wouldn't be worth the paper the report is printed on. One can never underestimate the "wisdom" of the urban and suburban dwellers.

Agree. Many urban youth couldn't tell you where the meat at the supermarket comes from. When they learn, they'll happily eat the Gates lab grown meat.
