Dear Mike,Wow, that is one king-sized, potential fishing reel.
But will it outlast the traditional coffee can? I doubt it.
Regards,
Tim Murphy 🙂
Dear Mike,Wow, that is one king-sized, potential fishing reel.
Daiwa marketed “long cast” spools back in the ‘80’s - so I’m applying it to a “new” method 😬Wow, that is one king-sized, potential fishing reel.
Another few reasons to embrace “coarse fish”A theory:
The success of pay-to-play fishing already in place has a LOT to do with the number & size of the fish being caught and/or other amenities associated with membership like limited and easy access, facilities, dining, lodging, camaraderie, etc...
When all of those things exist, sports with the cash are willing to pony up BIG bucks to take part. However, my theory "reckons," without the big & plentiful fish, you will have limited success and/or buy-in.
This is one of the reasons most of us think that even WITH limited and easy access, facilities, dining, lodging, camaraderie, etc., the Allenberry experiment is doomed to failure without Allenberry stocking LOTS of fish and LOTS of BIG fish...
After looking at the locations already on the Hooksetter list (there I added the missing letters 😉), my theory begs the question:
Does anyone really think there are enough sports (or other folks) out there who are willing to pony up to $100 bucks a day to fish for & catch a dozen or so gemmies or 8" wild browns on an un-stocked Class A section?
And if there are other larger fish in those sections, what is your potential for catching one or some those fish during your allotted day & time on said creek with the added pressure and/or mortality created by selling access to places that were hardly fished prior???
Is your coffee can plastic? Asking for a friend 😬Dear Mike,

Insurance was about $700 cost for the last year I did itDear tomgamber,
Yes, from the PFBC website:
Charter Boat Operators and Fishing Guides Requirements
Regards,
- Display their Charter Boat/Fishing Guide permit on a hat or an outer garment in plain view
- Possess a vaild fishing license and permitting appropriate for the waters they are fishing (and ensure the same for all workers and customers)
- Possess and maintain General Liability Insurance
- Possess and maintain CPR and First Aid certifications.
- BLS does not include first aid training. A separate first aid course would be required,
- If using a boat, Charter Boat Operators/Fishing Guides must also possess a Boating Safety Education Certificate issues by the Commission or another state in accordance with NASBLA or a U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC)
- Permittees must provide proof of all requirements upon request of a Waterways Conservation Officer (WCO)

Dear JG63,Is your coffee can plastic? Asking for a friend 😬
yeah, that was "you" in the general sense.Oh I was listening all right - I read Heinlein’s “The Man who sold the Moon” MANY years ago - I’m just complaining like old people do - so we can irritate anyone who’ll listen to us for a change 😎
Ummm...maybe you do, but I sure don't. I think we participate in these sports quite differently.Remember, we participate in a sport where we pay $400.00+ for a trip, buy Abel clippers, and four figure rods.
There are only 16 stream sections listed on there right now. Most are paid, maybe 4 or 5 are free I don’t remember. Some done have any pricing info listed. How much of the platform is free access that you just have to sign up for?? (I'm not going digging through the details, as I'll never use the service.) As a tool for landowners to provide limited public access, set rules, and track who is on their property (as @CLSports describes) it would be a pretty cool idea.
Given the world we live in, though, it seems 100% likely it will just degrade into Fishbnb, if it's not already mostly that.
There are currently two free ones. One is for non-profits or groups, and the other has some stipulations, too. A few don't have info up yet as to whether they are free or charge. They must be very new additions. How much of the platform is free access that you just have to sign up for?? (I'm not going digging through the details, as I'll never use the service.) I'm with Bam on this.A theory:

Coffee cans leave you with less coils per yard of fishing line than water bottles...
Unless you use PE or your fishing reel looks like this:
