Starting a New Rod

I finished sanding the epoxy and enamel off my 7’ 9” 2/3 wt. and also picked out the hardware that I’m going to use.

Looks amazing so far , can’t wait to see it finished.
Thanks, I was pleased on how the 7’9” turned out and the numbers are on mark when I mic’d it. The 9’ 4wt I’m pleased with the numbers as well (still sanding the butt section). But I re-calculated the numbers after I thought the Butt section would be too soft for what I wanted but it maybe too stiff now but we shall see.

It has been awhile since I worked on some rods but with some good results for the wife (Amy). I pulled out the blonde 7’9 4wt and cut it to length (measured twice and cut once 😁). I don’t know if I’m going to use one of the 3 color combinations or just go clear with red tip. But if someone has a comment let me know. I know bad pic and varnish. The final trim wraps will be only 5 turns. Joe E

I had the chance to do some rod work today—crowning the ferrules and turning down the blank for a perfect fit. Hopefully, I can get it wrapped and varnished over the next two weekends. I do have to do a touch up the crowning before I glue them tomorrow The combination of blonde bamboo and nickel silver hardware looks great IMO even though I don’t make that many blonde rods. I’ve settled on a thread color and will need to finalize that soon.
