I was wondering if anyone out there purchased this items. If so how do you like it or not and was it batter than your previous system. I am looking for something to throw in the pickup when going fishing. Present system is good, but I was wondering if this would be better.

I guess it all depends on how you prefer to transport your rods and reels to your fishing destination. I have a Simms Tailwind Rod and Reel Vault that I’ve have for several years, along with several other types and brands of rod and reel carriers, and my Simms Tailwind vault still sits in the back of my closet with the factory tags still attached to it.

It’s a nicely made bag, and while the present Tailwind vault has a couple minor tweaks compared to my older model, they’re still basically the same. The primary reason why I don’t use it, is not a function of the bag itself, but because I far prefer to keep my rods and reels fully assembled (or as much as possible) and use one of the other rod and reel carriers that I have, of which my older DB Dunn carriers for 2 (or 4) piece rods get the most use. (I’ve got a Simms rod and reel carrier for 2- 4 piece rods, but don’t use that much either.)

I’ve kept a number of my rods and reels assembled and carried in my truck across the county and back in my DB Dunn carriers, and often keep them assembled that way for a couple years at a time without a problem. I just don’t like to spend more time than needed assembling my rods and reels when I get to my fishing destination. If you are like many people, and don’t mind spending time rigging your rods and reels each time, the Simms Vault is probably a nice choice. (You can also carry it as a backpack too which is a nice, but you only mentioned putting it in your truck. If I did much airline travel, which I don’t do anymore, that would certainly be a nice feature.)
