Recent Rain

Morning. Just checked June's total rainfall for Union County and we had 7.4 inches. Normal listed for the month is just at 4.
Rain woke me up this morning around 630. Looking at @ .50 total for the day per the prediction, which shows rain all through the week until Thursday.

So, all outdoor activities are now 2nd Fiddle to indoor activities.
 
Just checked the maps. I noticed areas around Williamsport and Scranton got up to 7 inches of rain in the last 24 hours. I'm not sure if that was mostly today or not. Large areas of Pa with heavy rain right now. Quite a line from northern Pa all the was down to MD. Not going to be good.

Yep, Fishing Creek (Bloomsburg) is at 7280 CFS! Max for this date was 1420 CFS (2021). Some heavy t-storms hitting the NC region right now. They need it.
 
Dear Board,

The worst part is that yesterday the Susquehanna at Harrisburg finally got to 4 ft. It will probably get to 7 or 8 ft by this weekend and be trashed until mid-August.

Williamsport to Wilkes-Barre and even well into the Southern Tier of NY have gotten crushed last night and today. There will be a big lump of water to pass through!

Yup, I heard Pike & Wayne Counties got clobbered...
 
2.00" so far and according to the weather maps more on the way...

No drama so far as in wind, lightning & thunder. 🙂

And obviously I still have electricity...

Some areas could still use some rain, others got a good drink and others got extreme amounts in a short period of time that has caused a lot of damage.... Rauchtown, Muncy Valley, Sullivan Co, benton, Millville areas got pounded. Wilkes barre into the poconos is seeing lots of rain as well as parts of Lancaster. Saw significant portion of rt30 is closed as well as 283 getting over topped at Mount Joy.
 
The area above my cabin (Red Rock) has just over 7 inches of 24 hr accumulation.

That seems rather surprising given the drainage area at the Sonestown gauge is 23.8 sq mi and because I thought (45 yrs ago) that much of the drainage above Sonestown was wooded or at least undeveloped. Was I wrong or has there been a change? (The survey also produced a number of wild browns and a wild tiger trout).

I've fished Muncy Creek above Sonestown. It was almost entirely forested then (probably 20 years ago or so). Some is SGL, some is private forest land.

The stream is small at Sonestown. It's hard to imagine 4,000 cfs there.
