Paflyfish Spring Jamboree Weekend May 15-17, 2026

Mark your calendars for Friday, May 15–Sunday, May 17, as we enjoy the Annual Paflyfish Spring Jamboree Weekend at the Seven Mountains Campground. It’s that time of year again when members of our site gather for a fantastic blend of fly fishing, fly tying, camping, and camaraderie. Set against the backdrop of north-central Pennsylvania streams—including locations like the Little J, Penns Creek, Spring Creek, Fishing Creek, and more—it always offers a fun weekend.

The heart of our Jamboree is the pavilion at Seven Mountains Campground, rented by Paflyfish and serving as our central hub for meet-ups, impromptu conversations, and fly-tying sessions.

New this year will be our Saturday morning meetup. We will be offering a Fly Fishing Casting Clinic led by Derek Eberly (@FinFurFeather), a state-level competitive casting champion. Derek will offer a demonstration of casting techniques from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on the central Seven Mountains lawn—a great opportunity for new and experienced anglers to sharpen their casting skills.

Another addition this year will be a Fly and Gear Swap on Saturday morning at the pavilion from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM. Attendees are encouraged to bring their old or unwanted fly fishing gear—such as rods, reels, waders, books, and packs—to trade or barter. Fly tyers are welcome to bring their flies to sell or swap at the event. (Please keep it to fly fishing gear only—no weapons and no businesses. Paflyfish has the right to ask a participant to leave for any reason.)

There’s no shortage of spontaneous fly tying, casting pointers, and friendly guidance on where to cast your line. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or new to the area, our community members are here to ensure you feel right at home and equipped to make the most of your fishing adventures.

Many of our fellow anglers opt to extend their stay, arriving early or lingering longer after the weekend festivities. Keep an eye on this thread for real-time updates, or feel free to drop any questions you may have.

Great pics! Bummed I missed Derek's Castravaganza. I did pick up some info from fellow anglers that were present.

 

I would like to thank everyone who made the Jam possible for their hard work. It was my first time there, and I'm glad to have met folks from the group. Every person I had the pleasure to meet was very gracious and welcoming.

I would especially like to thank dryflyguy for going out of his way to take me fishing and show me around Penns Creek. I am not familiar with the area, so his generosity was invaluable to me. For as good as a dry fly fisherman he is, he is an even better person to spend time with.

I also want to thank my tent site neighbor Dubhlaine. He offered to take me out on Spring Creek early Sunday, but I decided to hang out at the campground and fish Penns in the evening. Sunday night we feasted on his wife's outstanding vegetarian chili and his own homemade sourdough bread! It's a good thing I took an afternoon nap Sunday because he kept me out way past my usual bedtime, lol.

The Jam was a great experience, and the world can use a lot more events like it. The fishing was fun, the scenery and environment were fantastic, but it was the people who stole the show.

It was good meeting you Skook (this is Ron that hung out at your tent site for a bit on Sunday morning), and I echo your sentiments on dryflyguy. Bill is a treasure and so gracious with his fishing knowledge. I've had the opportunity to fish with him several times and I learn something every time.

I have met and fished with so many good people from this forum. Tom Gamber, his son Adam and I spent all day Friday at Poe Paddy. I bet we walked at least 5 miles that day. I enjoyed the time I spent exploring and the conversation with them.

Albatross, Turkey and Cody have also all become good friends and fishing partners. Had a good lunch and some fun fishing with those guys and "The Don" Saturday evening.

Got to talk to Tim Murphy (still need to fish with you Tim) and met 5footfenwick which was cool.

As usual, the whole crew there was fun and friendly. Thanks to everyone who showed up and everyone who worked behind the scenes to set it up.
Derek's casting demo was great and he seems like a great dude.

It was great meeting you, Ron. I apologize. I didn't pick up on the fact that you were THE dudemanspecial! If I had known, I would have insisted on making you bacon and eggs for breakfast, lol.

Dear Board,

I was on the fence about the Jam, planning on just being a Saturday day-tripper until 5footFenwick invited me to stay with him at his campsite. That turned out better than I could have even imagined., and I expected it to go well. 😉

We went northeast so he could show me some of his home territory on Saturday. I really enjoy warm-water fly fishing, and he gave me the insider's scoop on all the good access points for float tubing or kayaking at Bald Eagle State Park and Sayers Dam. The conditions weren't conducive to getting the float tubes out and getting blown down the lake to the dam breast, so we bank fished and bothered some crappies, sunnies, and bass.

We headed up "The Pine" and he showed me a lot of places on the crick that I had never bothered with even though I had fished it often. The fishing conditions were bad, with howling winds and no bugs, but the lessons given were priceless. I might have stumbled onto the spots eventually. but nothing beats the inside skinny from a local. 😉

I'm glad I came up and grateful for seeing old friends and meeting new people too. I plan to return next year and maybe come up earlier and stay a little longer too.

10/10 would do again, would recommend. It really was very fun. I’m already looking forward to next year’s jam! It was nice to put a few faces to the names. Thanks to everyone and especially TimMurphy since he had to tolerate me the longest. 😉
