Paflyfish Spring Jamboree Weekend May 15-17, 2026

Mark your calendars for Friday, May 15–Sunday, May 17, as we enjoy the Annual Paflyfish Spring Jamboree Weekend at the Seven Mountains Campground. It’s that time of year again when members of our site gather for a fantastic blend of fly fishing, fly tying, camping, and camaraderie. Set against the backdrop of north-central Pennsylvania streams—including locations like the Little J, Penns Creek, Spring Creek, Fishing Creek, and more—it always offers a fun weekend.

The heart of our Jamboree is the pavilion at Seven Mountains Campground, rented by Paflyfish and serving as our central hub for meet-ups, impromptu conversations, and fly-tying sessions.

New this year will be our Saturday morning meetup. We will be offering a Fly Fishing Casting Clinic led by Derek Eberly (@FinFurFeather), a state-level competitive casting champion. Derek will offer a demonstration of casting techniques from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on the central Seven Mountains lawn—a great opportunity for new and experienced anglers to sharpen their casting skills.

Another addition this year will be a Fly and Gear Swap on Saturday morning at the pavilion from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM. Attendees are encouraged to bring their old or unwanted fly fishing gear—such as rods, reels, waders, books, and packs—to trade or barter. Fly tyers are welcome to bring their flies to sell or swap at the event. (Please keep it to fly fishing gear only—no weapons and no businesses. Paflyfish has the right to ask a participant to leave for any reason.)

There’s no shortage of spontaneous fly tying, casting pointers, and friendly guidance on where to cast your line. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or new to the area, our community members are here to ensure you feel right at home and equipped to make the most of your fishing adventures.

For the newbie’s and first timers…

The evenings at the pavilion are the focal point and should not be missed. My first couple jams, I sorta missed the boat on this, and was focused on getting to bed so I could get up early and fish all day the next day. Prioritize the socializing over the fishing, and you’ll come out ahead IMO. Sure, we’ll all fish somewhere at some point over the weekend, but the hanging out is where it’s at. Pcray's descriptions above are pretty on point as to what to expect.

Back to the evenings at the pavilion. This is where plans to fish the next day are generally made. As mentioned, groups have formed over the years that like to fish together, but all are always open to someone new “globbing on” and fishing with them. That’s how the groups got formed in the first place! If you’re new to FFing or aren’t familiar with the State College area, introduce yourself, and I’m certain you’ll get offers to tag along with some of the more experienced folks. It’s a long standing jam tradition to get some of the newer folks on their first native Brookie, or to see their first big primo evening hatch on one of the big streams, or whatever.

Short version: Don’t be shy.

Edit: Confirmed my plans are for an all day day trip Saturday. Best I could negotiate with Mrs. Swattie and the little ones at home. But I have all day with no restrictions. Figuring on a mid-morning Saturday arrival at the CG, see who’s around and what’s going on. Will fish some somewhere in the afternoon/evening, and be back for hanging out in the evening. Shoot to hit the road for home by midnight or so.

Really looking forward to getting to see other members at the Jamboree. At 77 YO and bad legs it's hard to stand or wade anymore, but I still love to be with my fellow anglers and talking fly fishing. I live near Williamsport and plan on making it a day trip. Between fish stories, I'll have a few fly rods that I don't use much anymore, nothing fancy just good everyday rods. I have some 8 wts, 7 wt for bass, a 5 wt and a couple of 4 wts along with some other outdoor stuff guys could use. It has taken me a life time to acquire my stuff and It seems no one in my family has any interest in fishing to pass these to and would like to see someone that would use and appreciate the equipment.

I was holding out but due to my wife's health I'm out.
It would have been my first.
But complications from surgery 2 weeks ago have used up most of my vacation this year and t'll have to save the rest just to see what happens.
I haven't been out fishing since the first day and that was a half day.

I was hoping to be there as well: but this spring has been tougher than most lately. I was actually back in Cambria county PA late the prior week, but it was for a tough trip: My mother-in-law passed away, and I brought my whole brood from Iowa to pay their respects to their grandma. She was a wonderful lady. I knew her longer than my own mother, and she truly treated me like a son.

My wife has been back & forth to PA to support the family (she is the oldest kid), this on the backdrop of a son graduating college here in Iowa this week, summer soccer league for the younger kids, and all the usual end of school year events. I sleep soundly, at the end of the day lately!

There is the tiniest of chances I might show, but I think its more likely a next year thing for me.

Hi folks, my name is John Delaney, usually back in Ireland for the summer by this time, however this year because of a couple of new grandkids im able to attend this Jamboree. A little last minute due to several family commitments but looking forward to meeting a few folks. 7 mountains Tent site #2 hopefully my back holds up. 👌😉😀 Planning on poe paddy Saturday and also maybe Monday Tuesday if conditions permit. Hopefully see.some of you guys on Friday/Saturday night...
Slán,

I will be in Cabin 71 from wed till tues. For anyone there early or staying later, feel free to stop by if I'm around. I'm sure there will be a fire going and some beverages being enjoyed. Possibly a song or two if we can talk shakey into it!
I've got a whole new list of brookie streams I want to check out!

Looking like I will be coming up Friday, but after the kid's baseball game, so no fishing for me Friday. Late arrival, like 9-9:30 p.m. and putting up tent in the dark. Will be in time for a few beers and socializing, and get to wake up there and set up instead of having to do all that Sat morning.

I'd like to do this (if for no other reason than to see dcoffey's reels and that Leonard rod in the swap), but my son is graduating Air Force basic training that week and I'll be in San Antonio and not home soon enough.
Unfortunately, I completely forgot about my daughter's dance recital on Saturday. Looks like I will not be making it either. If anyone is/was interested in the reels and rods, message me, and I can get you photos.

Since I will not be at the event, I will start to post the rods and reels in the swamp forum. It may take a while to list all the photos and descriptions. If interested in a particular item, please message me. Next posts will be in the swamp forum for these.

Update, guess they are moving me to vacation 61, 71 seems to need repair.
I was going to rent 61, but it was rented already. That was months ago. I had it last year and many other jams as well. This year I am out. I'll miss making music with Shakey and BSing with yins.

Im heading up tomorrow. Will be fishing somewhere on the way up , likely little j or spring. I dont even know what cabin im in yet, look for my blue volvo wagon.

On the way to a Penns Trip, it's always a tough call to stop somewhere quick. Kish, Tea, Honey, Havice. You always say a few quick casts but it never turns out that way!
