I listened. I would have enjoyed a little more depth on the topic.
I'm most interested in hearing someone with some influence address the impact that stocking has on stream access. I'm fairly confident access would be lost at some of the places I fish for wild trout if stocking was stopped there.
I fully agree that we shouldn't be stocking over native fish. I see a little room for negotiation on wild fish since our fish commission doesn't really have much else implemented in terms of access programs.
Something discussed in another thread is the detection of PFAS/PFOS in urban waters leading to a cessation of stocking. It is unfortunate because those are waters without wild/native trout fisheries.
I think that ceasing stocking over ALL wild trout waters would be too big of a step to gain support. But I fully support moving incrementally in that direction.
