Has anyone else noticed that Orvis doesn't list the std Battenkill on their website? The only ones listed are the disc drag models. I really hope they haven't been discontinued, they are my all time favorite reels.

TCO has several different Battenkils.
I guess I should buy a couple more. I like the Black Nickel finish so I try to find them. Just got a new in box size ll off EBAY really cheap. They maybe my new quest for a few days. Try to find a black nickel Battenkill in l, lll, and lV. Don't really need a V. They are, without a doubt, my favorite reel of all time. I have a soft spot for English Madisons also.

I recently had a almost new black nickel 2 for sale here for 3 weeks or so and didn't have a bite. Decided to just hang onto it

Not to steer this too off topic but I’ve noticed that there has been an increase in Orvis gear still with tags attached on eBay of late.

Could merely be a coincidence or people who bought things when the stores were closing and now reselling at a profit?

I've lost track of how many versions of Battenkill there have been, but none have interested me since the bar stock version in the early 2000's.

I emailed Orvis about the std
Battenkill. They are sold out and they removed them from the website to keep confusion to a minimum. I was told they should be back sometime in April. This is good news, my all time favorite reel!

Most likely true...when gander went out i stockpiled them at a fraction of the cost

In my life experience ( especially with guitars and amps) if there is something you really want get it before it’s gone. I wanted a standard Battenkill and got one and an extra spool a few years ago. Fished with it on my 4wt rods and never had a problem even landing 20”+ fish. Got a good deal on a Lamson large arbor Liquid reel so switched to that. From a collector of a few things, keep any original boxes you get as that adds to the value.

Sell it on Reverb - you won’t have any trouble moving it as long as your asking price is fair - I haven’t had any issues buying or selling on that platform - here’s pics of three recent additions
