O The Yough - 10.25.2026

I worked with probably 12 Friendsville natives back in 2000 through 2012,hunted down there for 10 yrs or so all on private property,we drove around and got introduced to some real Hatfield and McCoy characters, saw some stills and drank the product, yuck by the way, most heading towards Oakland out of Friendsville ,along a tribe of the Yough but seriously they won't bother nobody, not even sure if this activity still exists good times though, once my brother shot 4 bucks by 10:30 am or so ,I got Nutta, private property tags for the deer

Sorry 5 bucks been awhile

Careful in them Friendsville hollors, moonshine is still being made in them Yough tributaries, in all seriousness leave them alone they leave you alone
Yea I won't go looking for trouble I understand and always leave those folks alone

Good choice the clarion is so low I'm not going up there this Thursday or Friday
Unless we get some substantial amount of rain over the next few weeks I will be back to fish her around Thanksgiving.

FWIW -

The rafting outfitters have their own terms for the different sections that they guide on
To them - the upper Yough is the section in Maryland above the lake, I believe around Friendsville.
The middle section is Confluence to Ohiopyle.
Below Ohiopyle is called the lower river.
yep.
In the whitewater paddling world, the section between Swallow Falls to Sang Run is the Top Yough
Sang Run to Friendsville is the Upper.

Thank you it was a swag on my behalf 😂

Side note all those leaves need to disappear 🫠

That's where luck is involved.
If you happen to be out on a calm day, the leaves aren't usually much of a problem
A forecast of light variable winds is a good sign for that

I'm looking forward to that n some of my dumb luck 😂

I had some "dumb" luck up on the Delaware river last week.
Spent 3 days there with a buddy.
Wind blew hard all 3 days
The forecast for the first two was 5-10mph winds, and 10-15 the third day - which didn't seem too bad to us.
But it howled everyday - starting around 1-2 in the afternoon - right when the BWO's started hatching.
And didn't start calming down until 5-6pm - which is right when the flies stopped hatching, of course
Also bringing lots of leaves into the water too
