I’ve purchased these OG Cortland LTD reels/spools in the last few weeks on eBay - sum total of all these units (including serviceable fly lines and backing) for less than $125 - I was a Cortland Pro shop dealer from 87-93 and while this particular JW Young built series wasn’t exactly a Corvette, it was a Miata 😬 - they performed well in freshwater, were lightweight, were easily maintained, and could take more than a few punches from whatever trout, bass, or panfish could dish out. All these units (3 LTD 100 reels, 2 LTD 100 spools, 1 LTD 80 reel, and 1 LTD 80 spool) were in fairly rough condition after a 30+ year service life, but only needed a little cleaning, oxidized grease removal, re-assembly and conversion to left hand retrieve (for me). Alcohol, q-tips, and some Daiwa all temp reel grease was all that was needed to breathe some fresh air into these - they are a perfect period match for a couple of lonely Sage RP rods in the back row of the quiver - all the lines were Cortland 444 in various weights and designations and got a stretch and scrub with Cortland line dressing - can’t wait to put them back into service!

Nice deal. You could have a reel for every day of the week, and with 444 peach selling around 70 dollars retail these days I would say you did quite well.

The do look nice. Super purchase!
