Hi All,

Any tips of general fly selection for nymphing the lower savage at this time of year?

I have been running tags of size 22 juju baetis and a myriad of midge larva / pupa in size 22-24…

I very rarely am getting strikes on my anchor nymphs (size 14-18 perdigons).

I just fished the other day and was consistently getting hit on a size 10-12 walt’s worm. I used it as my anchor and had a size 18 purple reign off a tag. When I was fishing it seemed the fish were sitting towards the top and smacking tricos (I believe) until dusk. Maybe try a nymph with CDC? Maybe they’re digging into some movement on the nymphs lately.

Great idea about having some bugs with CDC on them… and interesting about the bigger Walt’s worm.

I had been having a lot of luck getting good fish on those tiny bugs but seems that has run out.

Thanks for your response. I’ll be throwing some bigger Walt’s worms tomorrow.
