Planning a trip up the LJ this Friday? Anyone have any reports lately? Also, is the yellow house parking area still posted? That is a nice stretch. I’d like to try the gorge area. Never fished it before. As always, all replies are greatly appreciated.

I was there Sunday and picked up a few. Flows were good for this time of year but lower than I prefer to fish it and very clear. That combined with the bright sun made them spooky, I saw like 3 fish rise all day. Saw very few other anglers so plenty of spots to pick. Worth the trip but temper your expectations.

yellow house area is still posted. No new posted signs were put up, which is good. The old camper was removed and the driveway was improved at the yellow house so there is some activity.
Conditions of the river are as dudeman wrote. I wouldn't fish the middle river right now on a clear sunny day.

I fished it Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday I started on the lower river late morning and fished till like 5:00 and it was SLOW. The slowest I’ve ever seen it. I barely avoided the skunk. Leaves in the water made it very hard to nymph and the fish just weren’t active. I then moved to another section and I fished streamers for like an hour right before dark and caught a big one but it felt like a total fluke considering I didn’t even move or see another fish.

Wednesday I fished for 1.5 hours total in the evening, in the gorge, and picked up 6 right away while Nymphing. Nothing with any real size though. If I nymphed the whole time it might have been a good evening but I tried streamers for the last hour I couldn’t get them to chase.

Compared to how I remember it last fall it’s fishing really weird, at least the past week or two. This recent weather isn’t helping things. Nymph some deeper runs later in the afternoon/evening and try streamers in some of the better looking pockets and you might do well. But I’d be shocked if anyone had a good day Tuesday at least midday

Found a few risers on the lower river yesterday. Picked up 2 (9 in and 13 in., respectively) on a #18 olive emerger plus a couple of long releases between 3:30 and 6p. Water temp at 5p was 48F. Overnight low air temps in the 30s the past week and forecast are not helping the bite imo

It's funny people always complain about the leafs but at certain very German bridge on the j the leafs stack up in the tail out and just like bass if you float a lil nymph under the leaf Matt you might get a surprise ... like I did last fall
