Im actually rather surprised by them.
Its one thing to want to enhance wild brook trout populations and expansion.

Its another to think you are going to create one in the Lehigh River. Especially in tributaries that already have them. And again especially considering the science out there about what stocked genes do to the already established populations.

Its a head scratcher. However, I guess maybe not considering the already established culture of stocking that likes to conflate fishing with conservation.

I find it troubling that they stock the Lehigh at all, when you consider a lot of it's tribs support wild trout populations, both brookies and browns. But, that's just me.

How can one "bring back" a fish that is already there 🤦‍♂️

If they just said "in the Lehigh River" that's one thing, but they said "and tribs".

20,000 fish will be a nice forage boost for the larger browns.

That's an incredibly sticky wicket when you consider Big Pine, Little Pine, Kettle and a host of other larger streams with tributaries with wild fish are also stocked...

I don't fish the Lehigh so I'm not as concerned about it, but I do fish the tribs and to stock the tribs is beyond moronic & stupid, especially with brook trout ready for spawning.
