Trying to judge if I am in the range of normal.

I currently have 14 fly rods, 5 of them are glass, 1 bamboo and 8 are graphite. They range from line size 2-6 and from 7'3" to 10".

Is this normal? I keep telling my wife it is, but now starting to doubt myself.

Good. news is, there isn't too many other rods I am jonesing for.

If you're doubting yourself as being normal for owning 14 fly rods, I must belong in an insane asylum for only owning 2. 😆
 
Zero in my quiver.

Seven sitting (in their tubes) on a shelf in the basement. Four of them are small stream rods of varying lengths and weights (most of the fishing I do), along with one 8’6 5wt I do most of my “big” stream Trout fishing with, a 10’ 5wt I use when I expect to be mostly nymphing all day (not very often), and a 6wt I use for warm water and occasionally streamers on big water for Trout.

Normal in this context I think is whatever you will use and makes you happy, and you can reasonably afford without sacrificing something else actually more important in life.

There’s times where I think I want another rod, and every once in a while I’ll buy one still, but when I do now, I generally sell one also. All seven of mine do get fished, some more than others obviously.

That's actually remarkably close to what I have except that I recently sold my only glass rod. Without physically counting, I'd guess that I have 6 or 7 bamboo rods and 8 or 9 graphite rods. Do I need them all? Most undoubtedly not, but I do use most of them.
 
Quivers are for arrows. None. I have zero rods in my "quiver."

How many do I own? I have no clue. 30? More? Less? Around that, probably.

How many do I use at once? One. How many do I take with me? Sometimes two. How many do I need? Effectively two would set me straight. Maybe three. How many haven't I touched in a long, long time? Probably 20 if there's 30.

I'm guessing about 30 or so. a dozen bamboo rods from 3 to 7 weight, more than a dozen graphite rods from 1 to 10 weight, and a half dozen fiberglass rods. It's worse with reels, I probably have 2 reels for every rod.

I've given away more than a few rods and reels too over the years. I've bought mostly used gear, both rods and reels, over the past 15 years. Most of the rods I bought new are at least 15 years old and many are much older. Many of the rods were gifts from the families of departed fishing buddies. There are some rods I rarely fish but will never part with because they were gifted to me.

Sounds normal to me. I have 9 rods ranging from 8' - 10.7' weight 3-7.
 
5 rods:
8'6" 5 wt is my small stream rod
9' 5 wt is my bigger river rod
9' 8 & 9 wts for streamers, warm water, salt, etc.
7'6" (or maybe 7'9"?) 6 wt glass rod that I play with once every couple years for dries

Sometimes I think about buying a short 3 for small streams, but then I realize I don't actually have any complaints about my current setup. Same with buying a 6 to throw bobber rigs on big rivers. I make what I have work 🤷‍♂️

There's also an Abu Garcia broomstick out in the garage, but that's the kids' rod. It's terrible 😂

I have 19, 17 bamboo 4 to 8 wt , 6 to 8.5 ft. 2 glass , a 7.5 4 piece packrod, and a 9 ft big water rod. Like Tim, I have a surplus of reels, probably about 60. I fish all the rods, some more than others(I'm a small stream guy at heart, but will fish anywhere for anything, except saltwater). No expensive collectables, just nice usable stuff I like.

Seven but I broke the tip off one and repaired it. I don't use anymore but keep it for my son in law to use. They are a 3, 4, 5, 5 with repaired tip, 6, 8, and another 8. That’s enough for me.

As i was reading responses, realized I have two more I didn’t count, as they are my loaner rods to newbs when I take someone out. Temple Fork, I believe.
