Dear Norm,

It will be interesting to see what if anything changes with the takeover. Danville Chenille is one of the legacy names in the fly-fishing industry. If you have ever been to the area around Hampstead NH, you have probably driven by the old wooden shed that housed Danville. It's the kind of place that if you didn't recognize the name on the sign, you would think it was just an old farm shed on the side of the road.

if I recall correctly, and if what I was told is true, Danville had some supply problems since COVID. Stores had problems getting new items in from them. Maybe the owners were winding down. IDK.

Hope Hareline doesn’t F it up.

Their rayon chenille is head and shoulders above any other type I’ve used. I’ve got 2 144 yard skeins of the magic colors that I twist together to make the variegated blend for my anchor flies on a nymph rig. To summarize the “supply issues” described above, I had to order one of them from some tiny island in Newfoundland and Labrador and the other from somewhere in Michigan.

These are the kind of legacy materials we’re losing with places like Flyfishers getting bought out by big corporates that all sell the same crap. These bugs have a little voodoo magic to them that I’ve seen firsthand up against patterns tied with inferior stuff.
