Fly Project/House of Fly (product quality/support)

Anyone have any experience with any gear from the fly project? Was looking at the Montucky II reel specifically. Hesitant due to unfamiliarity….
Better to just spend more from a major manufacturer for peace of mind/warranties?

I can tell you that they are a legitimate company, I have purchased from them several times as they occasionally have good sales. I had an issue with them shipping me the wrong product once and it was easy to contact them via email and get it straightened out.
I have never purchased their in house brand stuff before, so no comment on that.

I’ve gotten flies from them before, just never a rod/reel. I guess someone has got to be the guinea pig…

In fact, it's actually 20% thinner and 3x stronger than 20lb Dacron.

I have it on my trout fly rods and saltwater ones too.

I think its fair to say that in certain situations it could be a concern but not often.

I used to use an Orvis RiverMaster 9'6" 8wt. It was one of the old original superfines from the 70's, their sought after orginal unsanded full flex blanks. It was a great rod for tossing large Sculpins on Big Spring to monster rainbows. Then I'd turn around and fish for Carp, Bass and Musky in the Connie with the same rod, reel, leader and everything.

Had a few carp take it to the backing.
I dont know why but I've always used a good backing and line on all my reels.
