I mean how can you go wrong with that name. Was a girl at a local strip joint way back when whose stage name was chocolate thunder….maybe I’ll tie a new pattern and name it after her

About as progressive as commenting ‘how progressive,’ or purposefully snapping a photo of your gear stream side for your paflyfish profile pic. Didn’t your mother teach you that If you don’t have anything nice to say then don’t say anything at all….

Planning on tying few of both for yellowstone trip in 12 days (if I have time). Which is ultimately the purpose of my ‘progressive’ post. I never fish hoppers (i don’t even own one) and it would seem that they are the ‘go to’ pattern out west this time of year, hence me making the post. Maybe some parachutes, as well as one or 2 foam patterns (not chubby chernobyle). Input is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Which is faster:easier? The hippie? I want to tie 1or 2 foam patterns but I’m running out of time. Not a fan of the chubby. Micro chubby maybe…

Im terrible at any pattern with deer/elk on anything less than a 2/0 hook
I'm a pretty big fan of the Hippie Stomper, but I don't know if that is a true "hopper" pattern or if it is more of a cricket pattern or just a buggy terrestrial though.
My favorite hopper pattern is one of my own creation. It is kind of like an EHC met a terrestrial pattern. It has a post, rubber legs, and deer hair wing, and a hackle wound round the post.

Do you happen to have any pictures of this? I'm also trying to get my hoppers in order for my trip to Patagonia in Dec. and this one sounds interesting.
Why not just buy a half dozen when you get out there? You'll get the local flavor of what is working on that particular stream(s), professionally tied, and you won't need to buy any special materials. Plus they might give you a tip on how/where to fish them.

Most likely thats what I’ll end up doing…even if I do tie a bunch. Friend from high school that lives in Iowa is meeting me out there so I wanted to give him a bunch that I tied

Been working on one dubbed the ‘whopper hopper’. Satisfied with the body. Still working on the legs/wings…If I go with foam legs I’ll name it ‘Chocolate Thunder’

Maybe a bucktail/trigger point wing. Been working on an articulated craw pattern as well
