A battery sitting for a year without being charged is gonna be a dead battery. Poopdeck did a fine job explaining why your battery tender won't do the job. Depending on how long it sat discharged will factor into if it can be saved. A charged battery has lead dioxide positive plates and sponge lead negative plates. When it discharges the sulfuric acid from the electrolyte sticks to both plates turning them both into lead sulfate. The longer they are sulfated the less likely a charger will knock the acid back into the electrolyte. I wouldn't even try a charger that is less than 10 amps on a fully discharged deep cycle battery.

And you definitely answered my question in regards to the battery tender. I know it’s more for maintaining a charge while in storage than charging batteries, but I didn’t know it would take that long to charge a depleted one

It should still charge the battery no problem.
This will sound like a joke,but,try disconnecting it,and connecting it again.
Sometimes that works with battery tenders.
Is the red light on ?
If no lights are on,the battery is so dead that the battery tender isn’t reading it asa battery.
What was your volt reading when you put a multimeter on it?

It was charging, I was just expecting it to go faster, which made me think maybe it was something else. Ever since the boat sat for 4+ years it tends to throw a fit now and again ( ie I had to tap on the tilt/trim motor a couple times to get it going) Someday, if I ever have the time, I will rewire everything that I didn’t get to last summer (ignition, all the dashboard switches, fuse panel, etc). On the bright side I scored a snap-on 6/12v charger from my brother so I should have it sorted soon. Also got the fuel gauge working. The phone charger I installed last year, however, isn’t anymore…
