Thought I’d add this article to my prior thread about the BLM, instead of making a new one. Seems like another move to weaken protections on our “wild” backcountry spaces.

He's just doing what he does best, ruin whatever he gets involved with. Rinse and repeat.

I understand that public lands should be for all to enjoy, I’m just concerned about the impact that ATVs could have on the streams and other wildlife.

A buddy was telling me about an ATV park/trail system that was set up on abandoned mine land, which seems like a pretty good use of space that is otherwise limited functionally.

Beyond just the perception of four wheelers ruining a wilderness “vibe”, I’m imagining that destruction of plant life, sedimentation issues, etc. could be introduced.

Also, if this type of off-roading becomes permissible in areas where there are currently no motorized vehicles allowed, I could see it increasing fishing/hunting pressure in areas that previously require more effort/time commitment to pack into.

They aren't proposing to dismantle the forest service.
They are reorganizing. Hatch fails to mention a new combined research center is planned in Colorado. And a number of western facilities will be expanded.

31 facilities based in bioregions are reduced to one in Grand Junction, Colorado. You think this is a positive step? Please share.

I feel the same.

I almost stopped reading after the first line, though. It certainly set a tone.

What is immoral about a foreclosure notice? A terrible situation, yes, but being foreclosed on is not an immoral action when a borrower has defaulted on a loan.

Anyway, I'll be looking into it more and will be interested to see what BHA has to say.

I am also a member od BHA. Their's is a position of concern, but point out that the 2026 budget prohibits funds for relocations, so the lawyers who might want to defend the status quo look like they may have an avenue of appeal, as well as your representative who voted for that budget.
