At 69 in August, I'll admit I'm faaar from tech savvy. But, since I got the ChatGPT app on my phone and learned how to use it, my life has actually changed. That sounds a bit much and exagerated, but I mean that literally. It's really tough to explain what this app does, but I can only describe it as Google on bigtime steroids.
What I've learned since getting ChatGPT is incredable. It's actually like talking to a human with intelligence and memory beyond our understanding.

Overall the public comment of the meeting went well. There were a few really well spoken public commenters that raised some good points. The township office was overflowed into the hallways with no standing room left. The biggest concerns shared were the vauge wording on the proposed ground water use and the land being proposed to be used seems to be a mix of commercial and residential that doesnt meet code for such a project that may have to be revisited if they want to move forward with the project. Seems like a pretty big issue to me.

Will be interesting to see how they approach is as clearly the residents dont want it and are deeply concerned.

Legal battles will surely be coming in this project.

I've said from the start, the amounts of water some of these larger faciities use for cooling is enormous. No surprise them being vauge on the subject.

Of Hershey land trust. Resident testified how the quarry was connected to his groundwater and it isn’t being treated as such. Woman with the baby and Bible quotes was epic.

It doesn't need to go anywhere. It's not needed or wanted. We as a society have enough. We live in incredible excess. We don't need more. More isn't better. As a whole, while adding some positive to society, this crazy lightning speed has been a net negative on our society, on our physical and mental health. We are not better as a result.

I have to disagree with this statement. I spent my career in laboratory medicine. The use of AI in pathology has provided tremendous improvement in disease detection and treatment. For example, AI has provided earlier cancer detection and personalized treatment that reduces side effects.

There is nowhere in central PA where a 375-acre parking lot would get approval. But a data center with all the construction jobs that results in some guy in who knows where that controls the whole place will definitely get approval.

The LLMs do a better websearch and hand you informaiton back in one go versus doing it the "old" way where you have to wade through a dozen loaded ads and people who've manipulated SEO to get on top.

So approximately 375 acres? What will the runoff look like after 4" of rain in 2 and a half hours? 7" over 3 hrs? Exasperated flooding? More high water rescues putting further stress on first responders? Bridge repairs? Maybe some viral videos? I guess we'll learn the effects in time.

How many times are those construction jobs filled by township and county reaidents? How many times it it out of state workers? Its just something I rarely heard on the news.

There is much concern over how emergency services will deal with any incident there. Apparently,There is some kind of an exemption on providing information for
Hazardous chemicals on the site? Data Centers and Frackers I guess…

Not to mention, most of those jobs are temporary while construction is underway. It's the hyperscale data centers that can provide hundreds of permanent jobs. It just becomes somewhat of a tradeoff, I guess.

One speaker was explaining that, as a prospective homebuyer, her and her family were a hard pass on the prospect that if they buy now, the value of the home will only go down as this data center is put into the neighborhood. This combined with 1 more in the early planning phase and 2 more in exploratory stages within a 10 mile radius.

This combined with the very next speaker giving anecdotal stories of multiple neighbors in her area getting cold called by Texas investment group asking if they were willing to sell their homes and for what price? Its certainly possible that these calls are unrelated, but it seems suspicious if nothing else.

Very good memory. It was a G4 Macintosh server back 30 years ago under my office desk.

AI data centers are often portrayed as either worse than a nuclear power plant or better than a factory full of new green jobs. The truth has been obscured by both sides. Like most things, they can be bad if done improperly and reasonably good if built in the right location with proper planning.

Last I looked, there were about 52 proposed new AI data centers across Pennsylvania. That is a lot of data centers for one state. In doing further research, it seems many of these projects are highly speculative and driven more by land developers than by actual technology companies with specific needs and plans. Not too far down the road, much of your AI usage may be handled directly by your smartphone or computer. I think there is overbuilding in the AI data center space, and there is a real chance of a bubble.

I am also tired of the media framing every issue as some sort of existential threat that requires everyone to run around with their hair on fire.

Like most controversial topics, somewhere in the middle lies the truth.

The reason is... doom sells and gets clicks
