Dam coming down

I finally got out to see the final product. All the concrete is gone, all the rebar is gone and the grass seed has been sown. Downstream 100 yards and upstream to the next dam has been drastically changed. The creek is about half the width it was and shallow which was expected. What I didn’t expect is after the first bend in the creek roughly 100 yards downstream the creek seems virtually unchanged. I can’t wait to be able to put waders on so I can explore this further but from what I can get to right now it looks promising.

This picture is from the old bulkhead. The dam previously ran from the right side of the picture, across the creek to just below the big boulder on the far side. The upstream side definatley is more accessible now but it looks like a lot of ankle deep water. Again, can’t wait to get the waders on. It’s not unusual to catch a few LMB in this area I suspect that will change.

This picture is about 50 yards downstream looking up at the removed dam. This area looks good. I like the less water here which should concentrate the fish on the side that always fished better anyway.
It would be interesting to see photos at these same spots in the future. When the vegetation comes in, it will really look different. The vegetation will come on strong in just one growing season.

And the stream channel is likely to continue changing as erosion and deposition shifts things around.

The channel may change some over time.

when do they start listing the price per liter.
Am I misremembering, but was there a time during the gas crisis of the 70s when they did this? I was quite young. I think it was because the pumps could not go above 99.9 (cents).
Gee I was driving back then but I don’t remember that in New Jersey?

Did you work for Highway Equipment and Supply? Thats where Flyway rented their latest tech and best equipment (Volvo excavator) from.

Diesel is a sore subject with me right now. Yesterday I filled my tank at $6.59 a gallon. Almost $220.00. I’m gonna have to start filling up at 3/4 full so I can trick myself.
My wife sets the clock in her car ahead 5 minutes so she won’t be late 😆

Correct, the 70's is when stations began converting to digital. I believe Wolfe's General store in Slaterun had mechanical pumps until late 80's early 90's.
