Fished below the famed trout water areas today, thinking the farther down the more water in the river, caught 4 ,2 small rainbows,1 small brown and 1 good one around 16 inches ,all on streamers, water was very low I almost gave up and went to tionesta overflow and was going to fish down to the Allegheny, but they started biting and I hung out, beats sitting at home

Nice pics. I chose to shoot innocent woodland critters with a 20 gauge today instead of fishing. I almost went fishing though.....I was thinking about it.

Looked to be a bright full moon, there was light from several houses, based on what I've heard online, this would be very low odds, I missed one before I got him, then missed another one that caused a huge splash, it was exciting

It was crazy, I heard several big splashes that weren't because of my fly, not sure if they were trout or what they were trying to eat in that manner. Those loud splashy eats are usually how bass eat topwater, however the fish I caught seemed to Slam it rather than sip. Maybe the trout are accustomed to slamming frogs or mice in this river

It might be what you read online (the Internet don't lie, right?), but your experience says otherwise. I've caught fish at night with full moon and no moon. I've caught fish a minute after I get tired of not getting a hit and am curious what might be out hunting and shine a bright light in a pool and see a pool boss hanging out. That should kill the bite, no?

Awhile back, I wrote a small script that used a lunar phase module to convert date of all fish I caught since I think 2013, after dusk, to the moon phase. There wasn't much variation between the eight phases, probably more a function of when I fished than anything else. Sample size of one angler (me) so certainly not statistically significant. 100% agree that large browns are definitely negative phototropic but they're going to eat at night regardless if there is low light or no light.

Fished with a guy once, whose father was a member of a club somewhere (maybe somewhere on Hammer years ago?). His father had generated some anecdotal data that the big browns went on full feed every three days. No idea if that is valid, but there are a few occasions where I've camped and fished the same place consecutive nights and never had more than one overly successful night on the big boys. And it wasn't always the first night that I got the bite. Plenty of other variables could influence my experience, of course.
