Biggest fly I (accidentally) caught a native on was this mouse, sz 2 or 4 I forget. I had fished up a small stream with dry flies picking up some smaller wild fish. There was a large waterfall pool which usually held stocked fish washed down from an impoundment above. Tied on the mouse and after several stockers this 8-9” brookie hammered it. Not sure his mouth could fit the whole fly - guessing he short struck the tail and I ended up hooking it through the outside of the upper lip.

One day while at PSU I drove to a nearby brook trout stream and once there I discovered I only had my 6 wt and a few bass poppers with me. I gave it a shot. Fish under 6" ran away from the popper, fish over 6" tried to smack it. Caught one around 9" but that big hook wasn't kind to that fish so I called it a day. 16-lb mono tippet by the way. Lol

I posted one earlier this year that was 13-14" and ate a 3-4" long articulated streamer.

I must have missed that one, could you share that pic again? I'd enjoy seeing it.

This was the one that ate articulated streamer. Cold high water and mid winter - the big fly was for browns but this fish found it first.

Heres a big brookie from 2018 i measured it at 15in. Got it in a non stocked stream that connects to a stocked stream... i pretty sure its a holdover from past stockings that found its way to this trib..was very clean beautiful transluscent fine etc. Nice fish either way although it would be cool if it was a true
