Why did they pick Archbald? Is because of access to deep mine water for cooling?

The cold deep mine outflows are the reason the Lackawanna River is a wild trout stream.

I dont know. They will be using water.

Residents against it say 3 million gallons a day
The companies say 50000 per building per day

Either way the Lack is going to lose some water. Which is why I said what I said.

There is trout all they way to Moosic. I wonder if this might affect that.

In an attempt to answer you question I found this on an SpotlightPA article with included a Dropbox link with the evidence of the claim:

"To make matters more complicated, Archbald’s water system is privately owned and operated by American Water, the nation’s largest private water company. Residents are concerned the town’s data center boom will also affect these bills and threaten their drinking supply. Project Gravity alone is expected to pump 360,000 gallons of water a day from Lake Scranton, which serves 134,570 people across Lackawanna County. Developers of the Wildcat Ridge Data Center are proposing to pump up to 3.3 million gallons per day — some of it potentially from the minor sea of ground and rainwater that now fills the empty coal mines beneath the building site"

So, yes, likely.
 
Its also an economically depressed area with lots of scars from past mining. Many politicians and developers see these areas as opportunities for cheap development with no risk or environmental concern due to past landuse.

The greater Scranton/ Wilkes Barre area has a long history of abuse of natural resources (resource extraction) for economic gain of a few.

How about learning to become an ethical fisherman and not target trout this time of year in a river that has temp issues? Not even taking a water temp? Come on... He can easily drive 35/40 minutes to the WB D from where he lives if he needs to trout fish so bad.

This was taken on the 5th since then we have had multiple days in the 90’s or high 80’s. It is not ok to be fishing right now and down right disrespectful to be posting about doing so. I am sorry, but someone needs to tell you and not pussyfoot around it.

For my part, I didn't intend to start a pile on here
As far as I know, the water temp could well have been fine when the OP caught the fish.
I just wanted to make it known to anyone thinking of going up there, that the river does have thermal issues in the summer

i too would rather stay out of an assasination, and i did say nice fish in my first response, but i also felt perhaps the op was not aware that he might be harming the fish he was so proud of catching.

spot burners fishing when temps are over 68F, color me surprised
 
Is the spot burning comment sarcasm? It's an urban river with shopping carts in it. Also I did see the A&G website which also says best window is to fish early to avoid the heat. I've only been fishing morning. I did fish one evening a few weeks ago. The trout didn't seem too lathargic considering they were rising and feeding pretty aggressively in a deep pool. I'm gonna be honest, I don't understand all the policing with unspoken rules. I try to be more careful about my fishing etiquette but there's always something. At the end of the day we hook fish in the mouth for our own satisfaction. That's not very thoughtful of the poor trouts well being.
