Work is making me go to Hellertown for training in a couple of weeks and I noticed it's a few blocks away from Saucon Creek as it flows under 309. Is it worth checking this section out, or even allowed? Or are there other sections/streams that are a better place to try?

From today, fish Saucon Creek Park and down. There were even tricos still hatching.

I ended up not having my wading boots and went with the little lehigh instead for supposed better bank access. Didn't work in my favor casting on over grown banks. Awesome fish!

That fish in the pic surprises me. It’s a female and at this time should be full of eggs and thus much more plump. It’s unlikely that it spawned already and I further discount that because the caudal fin is in good shape. I can only conclude that it is a female that either is not producing eggs each year due to environmental or health conditions or because it is one of the females that naturally exhibits biennial spawning.

Poor environmental conditions could include warm water, given this past summer’s temps and low flows in the region. It could be that this fish spent part of the summer in the much warmer Lehigh R before entering Saucon Ck.(unless there is a blockage between the river and where this fish was caught).

Thats a beaut! How were water levels? My last trip after those storms the other week didnt produce much for me, which surprised me given the conditions. Seems ive been seein less fish there this year than the past few.
Low water. I only got 3 but I saw a lot of fish. Little ones and rising. I wasn’t fishing for them though.

I saw zero signs of spawning yet and the same was said my another angler. Last year it was after Halloween from my observation that the reds were prominent.
