Favorite sinking ant is a thread ant size 14 - the same size as the carpenter ants in my area. Use floss or silk rod wrapping thread to build up more quickly on a size 14. Sometimes use a tungsten bead for the front hump. An oldie but a goody.

This ant is deadly for a few hours after the trico spinner falls ends in combination with a sunk trico spinner pattern. My favorite sunk trico spinner pattern these days is a size 22 black Avatar (the Rim Chung pattern). The trico dry action may be maybe an hour, but the sunken ant and trico combo fish well all morning.
