Couple for “mini” thrashers heading to the dungeon which is my streamer box

Blueberg

Hook - Single salmon
Thread - Tan
Body - Wrapped with fine dyed blue pearlescent braided mylar piping or blue holographic tinsel
Wing - White calf tied over the body, with an overwing of a barred mallard flankfeather tied flat
Hackle - Ginger tied on as a collar and tied back

Nope, so I guess it’s not really an “emerger,” maybe more of a sunken emerger, lol. Probably would float with just glass, but it needs significantly more foam with the tungsten butt, as I think one tungsten bead ~8 glass beads.

As tied the butt will hit bottom while the head and hook stay suspended above. I don’t know if clicks actually attract trout, but since the beads are loose on a string of fluorocarbon, they might actually click when it hits stuff. They click audibly if you flick the tail. So it might not be a total fail.

Will experiment with other combinations.

The ones in the book have more buggy adornments like cdc, which I haven’t bothered with (yet).

It is a touch finnicky to work with but dubs well after a few flies. I used a little more wax than i needed for this specimen- honestly, I would recommend using pre-waxed thread. It can clump quite a bit if you let it, so make sure to work the fibers into a nice even spread before dubbing.
 
I tie with unfinished Kapok all of the time. it sometimes needs to be combed out. If you start with a little pinch it goes on the thread very well. I also color the dubbing with alcohol markers. It takes the color well but will generally color darker than what the marker appears to be.
