Valley Creek 10.20.12 Chesco With the Sassquatch & KeithS

Wish I could! I think I'm not getting out at all this week due to work, school and we have company on Sunday. Oh well. Got out this morning for a few productive minutes.

Will do Chef....depends on air temp as to how early. The Prof will need mittens for anything under 50 degrees. The San Juan Worm will probably be ineffective in that except for morning showers tomorrow, there is no rain in the forecast. Also the Prof fished it on the 21st and it was lower and gin clear so bring some Walt's Worms. Probably should doing this in the meet up forum where I will make a post. Fade

yea keep me updated, i might be able to make it damn Story Book land keeps coming into the conversion with the wife. But I might get a long 3 day trip up north if a play nice.

I'm going to try and hit the Valley tomorrow if anyone is interested. I need to be in Phoenixville by 3 for a meeting so I figured I'd fish the morning away ;-)

Picked up a few nice ones on #22 chartruese zebra midges and #18 tan caddis dry fly yesterday afternoon. There was a nice caddis hatch going on late afternoon. Fish were taking most flies in the faster riffles.

I fished 9-1ish today. Caught one real nice brown on a #18 BWO. Had a few more ticks but the action went dead around 11:30. I could see a lot of fish in the creek but they just weren't feeding.

I used BWOs, Walt worms, olive midges and even a beetle at one point. Not sure if it was me or just they weren't feeding. I did wish I had a little bit of weight to get the midges and worms down faster but, forgot to grab it out of the truck.

Saw a real nice 4 point buck on my walk back. I think the evening hatch might have been more productive.

per evo: "I think the evening hatch might have been more productive. " It was, though I didn't see a hatch, even midges.

How's vc looking? I just got back from school and I'm headin out there tomorrow I hope. But I probably won't catch anything, since its super hard and is fished over so much...lol if any of y'all wanna come out tomorrow lmk.

Took a walk with my son along Valley and Little valley yesterday afternoon and evening. Saw no surface activity. Took a look for some redds but saw nothing obvious. Many sections were scoured clean by Irene making redds harder to pick out. There was a few guys fishing with some slow action on nymphs.

As for valley, from the parking lot off wilson road by the old bridge, under the turnpike and half way up to bradford road. I walked little valley from the park on mill road down to the concluence with the main stem.

Going to send a PM. Not that I have anything interesting, but don't want to start another Valley spot burning debate.....even though it's impossible to spot burn that stream.

Mussumatt-

Small world! I went to WVU and just got back from a weekend in Morgantown for the Oklahoma game. My liver hurts! 😉 I love that place. Anyway, I fish Valley Creek all the time and just spent all year becoming obsessed with fly fishing. We will have to get together out there one of these days.

It was a great game, but deforest needs to go! Good to hear from another mountaineer! I'm ready to get back home.
Prof- you don't want to start another spot burning on vc... It's impossible everyone knows about it. But hey in y'all opinion it's a super secret creek, that no one can catch more then 10 fish in a day...

I am pondering heading over Friday afternoon instead of doing my patriotic duty and shopping all day. That K of P traffic might be a bear though.
