Prof KeithS, Sass and I fished Valley inside and outside the park. Air low 50s AM mid 60s in the afternoon. Beautiful fall day. Puffy white clouds in a gorgeous blue sky. Every gust of wind rewarded us with leaves tumbling and swirling the the ground. Water temp 66. Water was greenish brown and somewhat opaque. Water was at the highest level I have ever fished Valley. We weren't doing well until we tied on San Juan worms. Both pinks and reds worked. Prof was using his Walt's Worm go to fly for Valley with no results. Once he tied on the SJ worm bang!! We figured the fish could not to discern the WWorm's tan body given the color of the water. Between the 4 of us we caught 20 trout... some with nice size. Prof and I left around 3PM to watch the Notre Dame game leaving Sassquatch and KeithS behind to finish up their first time ever trip to Valley. Sass had 7 when I left working to his goal of 10 fish. If you haven't seen the Sass in a while check out the PIC. He will probably be seen on the "Swap" forum looking for a downsized pair of waders! Simply put we had a blast and ND is now 7 and 0 to boot! Perfect day.

PS I forgot to add that SNJChef texted me at 7AM that he couldn't make it as his daughter woke up sick...Chef thanks for the text and I hope your daughter is doing better.

I ran into Fadeaway yesterday on Valley. I did not do as well he and the Sasquatch did. I was fishing behind them and they did not leave much for me. I still eked out a few, but they were all on the small side. It was still a glorious day made only better by being able to listen to Rutgers decisively beat Temple while I fished. It was also my first meet up with Fadeaway and it was a pleasant meeting. I hope to run into him and his buds again.

PS Saw several rising fish and late in the afternoon saw a few size 20 bwo's.

He Salmo nice meeting you as well....except for the Rutgers comment it was my pleasure....sent three Kids to Temple ;-) We'll PM you next time we go...PS that landowner who harrassed you sees Prof all the time and he hasn't said a word about trespassing.

Maybe that landowner knows I went to Rutgers.

You surely know of Les Trout... we now give you Les Waist!

Hey Fade,

make sure to PM me next time you guys go, I promise I will come to the "Right" Wegmans next time.. LOL

That was a great day. My first time on Valley. I love streams like this, especially the stretches we fished outside of the park. Thanks Fade and Prof for showing us around. I fished most of the morning w/ the Prof, who was generous enough to show me his honey holes and let me fish them thoroughly. He was rewarded for his generocity by catching just as many fish (maybe more!? When Fade took Keith and myself to the park, I think the Prof stayed behind and rocked a few more trout?)

Props goes to Fade though for cracking the san juan worm puzzle! As Fade said, they never fished Valley w/ these kinds of flows, so the normal tricks weren't working. English Prof is a lot like me...we talked about putting streamers on all morning, but neither one of us really enjoys fishing w/ them so we kept putting it off. They probably would have worked though, especially sculpins.

It was a great day. Looking back, I caught fish on several different flies. I fished a dropper all day w/ a size 12 EHC up top. I dropped an olive scud off for some of the day and that produced a few fish, dropped the SJW off and that produced, and I even caught two on the EHC! Beautiful little stream.

Thanks for the Kudos Andy. Saturday took some of the sting out of what happened with Fest. But in my opinion meet ups like we had Saturday just would not happen without the efforts of DKile and the MODS. Did you reach your goal of 10 fish? Fade Out.

Nope, never got there. Had the strikes, but couldn't bring them to hand! I was using that big scud at the second area you took us to, and I think the size was bringing on the strikes, but it was hurting w/ the hook ups. Oh well! Keith and I fished up the rest of that stretch and then headed for home. Such a great Fall day to be out. I loved every minute of it.

I'll just add this as I think the other guys covered the fishing. Stagger, once again, we can't find any @#%holes on this site. Andy (Sasquatch) and Keith (KeithS) are two more examples of fine people. Hope we can do do it again soon. One more thing, I wish the damn water level was like that every day!!!!!

Its gonna be happening more, Prof. I'm more than willing to drive 50 minutes or so to fish any time! I will have you lads up my way to hit up that stream we talked about. After the spawn, of course!

Looking forward to getting up your way Andy. If it's "after the spawn", it will probably be Spring.....unless this Winter is like last year. I'm not real fond of cold weather!!!!!

That's cool. I can wait! We can do it before the spawn too, just not sure when it'll begin. I'd love to try Valley in the winter though. That's for sure.

Thanks, All good with my daughter gotta love the teeth coming in and the fevers they get. And the wife getting crushed with allergies. I got out a few hours on Sunday before the oldests field hockey game. I think I was happy driving to work Monday, it was a mad house all weekend.

The Prof and I are thinking of taking a Vaykay day to fish Valley Friday if anyone is interested.
