No way that's right. Sunbury's at 7500ish. No way that kinda rain fell between there and Harrisburg. The gauges on the tribs in that stretch definitely don't show it either.
Only plausible explanation in my mind would be a bunch of SE PA PAFF Jammers stopping to take a wazz off the the 322 Bridge coming back from State College...but the Jam is in May.

it was way off. fishing was spectacular today.
Wade fished for an hour or so last evening. It was slightly stained and pusing harder than I thought. All but swam out to the boulders and weed beds in the narrows. Husband and wife on bank were concerned that I was stranded or going to drown. I calmly spoke with them as I crossed channel and the water began to cover my shoulders leaving only my head visible. LOL. Trying to go straight across would have ended in being swept into rapids. I started my crossing 75 yards above where I wanted to exit and let the flow push me down river as my legs churned under the surface. If you're heading out to wade, be careful as its still moving pretty good.
The fishing did not equal the danger. Couple of little guys was all I managed. One good sign was spotting at least 100 little bass rising and jumpin for the hatching mayflies. The fish were 2-5".

thats funny because yesterday morning harrisburg was perfect and gave up a ton of fish. glad you are ok

I have no sense of self preservation. LOL. Fishing from a boat is so much more enjoyable.

I wasn't I. The most 'wader friendly' area and knew it. Figured it was still low enough to wade. Couldn't see the big rocks until I was right on top of them. To my credit, out and back w/o a spill which is pretty good in that section.

Some more from tonight. Fish are on big time. Had a blast with smallies of all sizes. Hexes(?) and white flies came off starting around 8:15, snouts all over the place. Dinks and Pigs galore. Get out there!

My experience yesterday on the Susquehanna mirrors Kray's observation. It was slow compared to last weekend. Friday was better than Saturday this weekend.
The Juniata is full of algae right now. It's coming loose and floating. Streamer fishing is tough.

I fished the Susquehanna Saturday and Sunday around Wrightsville. Saturday morning we hit the Wrightsville area at daylight and fished until about 930am. There were boats already in every spot we went to. We ended up losing a decent bass near the boat and landing a small one between two guys.
Once the sun was up i sight fished for carp and did well. Hooked 1 monster that took me deeper into my backing on an 8wt than any other fish I've ever fought. We duked it out for 5-10 minutes and I felt like i was finally getting the upper hand when my tippet gave out. That fish was probably 15lbs+. I reworked my leader and went with 0x instead of 2x. The next fish i saw ate on the first cast. it put me in my backing and fought well but nothing like the first one. It was probably about 10lbs. Both carp ate a foxee red clouser.
Fished for bass the rest of the day and caught 4 smaller fish up to 12 inches and one 16 incher at dusk on a gurgler.
Primarily targetted carp with jay348 on sunday and got the carp skunk. We had some good shots but they just weren't eating. We each caught some dink bass while carp fishing and i missed a really nice bass that i sight fished to.
It seems like carp numbers are really down in general. There just aren't as many as there used to be, imo due to bowfishing. The bass fishing in this stretch of the river is really off right now and i'm not sure why. The good news is that i saw lots of yoy healthy looking bass in the shallows.

The fish we were catching were in the shallows where deeper troughs were found. I hooked and lost the biggest smallie I've ever seen. He took a crankbait 10' in front of me, had him on and was shshouting for net and he spit the plug. We spooked several big bass 4+ pounders and they were in amazingly shallow water with high mid day sun beating down. Very few carp spotted and they were smaller (5 pounds or less).
