i arrived at the stream around 3 pm. really not much happening as in bug life. i managed 2 on a tan caddis emerger in the afternoon. fishing in the evening was tough. a few sulphers in the air but nothing really taking them. the stream was crowded with every hole and riffle had someone fishing it. at dusk, there were some sulpher spinners in the air but nothing really surfacing. as i was walking back to the truck around 8:30 or so, i stopped at the creek and noticed a rise. i decided what the heck and i made a cast. the first cast with a size 14 sulpher spinner yielded a nice 18 inch brown torut. within the next 5 minutes, i caught 2 more nice ones and missed another 3. i traveled 70 miles one way to get 10 minutes of good fishing. oh well, it was worth it.

red, I fished the same area, I started a little earlier than you. Sulphur emergers were the ticket, good action all afternoon. Evening was less active for some reason. Lots of rises the last 15 minutes of light but they were choosy.

It's been a while for me fishing Sulfurs on Spring, but when I used to do it often, this was more often than not the way it went. Occasional rises and maybe 1-5 fish in the late afternoon/evening nymphing or emergers, but things didn't get hot until well after sunset, when the spinners finally hit the water, and you get 15-20 minutes of truly hot fishing before it gets too dark to see (the fish usually slack off when its too dark too).

There are nights where things start a little earlier, but even then, its only an hour or so of the really good fishing.

Thats central PA for you. The streams are chalk full of fish and rich with food. The fish have the luxury of choice, they feed when they want to, and on what they want to. You have to meet them on their schedule. Kinda sucks to travel all the way to paradise to only get a short time of good fishing, but thats life.

I tend to spend my days on smaller streams, brookies or browns, where fishing seems to be better during the heat of the day, then quit and grab a bite to eat, then get to the big streams 4-6 p.m.

redrockgrizzly, the stream report titling format prefered is:

Stream Name, County, xx/xx/201x

I had to re-do your entire title. Please try to match the format so that sorting and searching functions work appropriately. Thanks.
