So what's better than fishing on a Tuesday?

Some cricks Tuesdays can be the best time to be out. Other cricks maybe its more about conditions. My "best" session so far this year was actually on a Saturday. I seem to see more wildlife on Tuesdays, Wednesday when less people are out.

There's song by the Grateful Dead that includes the line "take my line and fishing for a Tuesday" which I always considered to be good advice.
Jerry Garcia's father died while fly fishing. He was fishing the Trinity River in northern California when he slipped and drowned.

What's better than fishing on a Tuesday? Fishing every day of the week!

Since I have fishing agoraphobia, I have been cashing in my PTO on days when I think pressure will be light. Tuesdays were always my favorite days when my past career afforded more weekday free time. The last two Tuesdays did not disappoint. Last week I got to fish with not one but two members of the forum who are retired and probably only fish on Tuesdays 😉 I landed a pig brown on a jig streamer early and ended with a fun dry fly session.

And yesterday, I had about 6 solo hours of steady nymphing action in the bouncy water. No real size but plenty of solid trouts. The highlight was likely the trifecta (or more if you count two varieties of chub life). Rain and cooler temps would help, but life is pretty good, yo!

You day burner! 🤣

Well, I fished a Friday today, and it was no Tuesday, I tell ya! Maybe a cold front and wind blowing 20 mph had something to do with it.... High sun, no water, no bugs, a different trifecta.
I went SMB fishing on the Big J yesterday- warming up for the WW jam. Wind was terrible and bite was slow but I got two hogs and almost a dozen smalls. I made my transition to SMB last week.

You need to get out if thats what you like too do make time...were never promised tommorow if you physically can go..ive seen too many aquaintainces retire after years of hard work get sedentary then have no desire to take better care of themselves then the fire peters out and damage done...keep active. "The Good old days" are today, don't let them slip away.

I thought it was the Russian River in Marin, but you're right that is how he died, and I expect that as a result Jerry didn't fish.

Yeah, it happened on the Trinity in northern California when Jerry was 5 years old. From what I've read, it had a very profound emotional impact on him for a number of years afterwards. Obviously, he did quite well as he got older.

The Savage kicks my arse regularly. Yet I still return thinking it will be different.
It is a beautiful stream. The wading is tough (although the NB of the Potomac is far more difficult IMO) and the fishing was very slow. But the scenery and calming influence of flowing water made it worthwhile.
