Smith has changed their lens lineup quite a bit over the last few years.I'm looking for a new pair of sunglasses for low light conditions. The Smith website shows the Guide Choice model can be configured with the Techlite Polarchromic Ignitor lens (12-30% VLT) There does not seem to be an option for a non-polarchromic ignitor lens. There is also a yellow lens with 33% VLT. Is the Ignitor lens color specifically the reason folks (who recommended them above) like them?
Also, I want glass lenses partly for the performance aspect Pcray talked about but also for abrasion resistance. In some places Smith seems to say that Techlite is a glass lens. Is that correct? (@Pcray?)
The low light Ignitor lens that everyone used to love doesn't exist anymore. The only true low light option is the low light yellow glass lens. I have a pair and they work well. They do fog up very easily, I haven't found a good way to prevent that, but haven't tried real hard either.
