Hello Everyone,

I picedk up a Sage III RPL in a 9ft 5wt for a good price. The rod is a 2 piece and has been repaired. The repair was done in the middle of the second section. I was wondering if there is anything I should know about a repaired rod.

Thank You!

What do you mean by the second section exactly? Fish it regardless. If it's the lower/grip half, a break that low might not even have that significant of an impact, depending on how it was fixed.

If it casts to your liking, fish away. If it breaks at the repair, you'll have a story about the biggest fish you didn't catch.

It is a decent rod. You can get it repaired from the Sage factory, but I'm not sure if the cost is worth it. You can check it out here>

If the repair was done right, it should be fine.
I broke a rod recently
And fixed it myself
Bought a rod repair kit from Amazon
It came with 7 different size carbon sticks, epoxy, and wrapping thread to finish off the repair
Holding up well almost 2 years afterward now

I broke a 2 pc 7 ft 3 wt older cabela rod right where they join together, had a guy repair it with the old fashion aluminum ferel, other than the weight action was fine,
