Our family has been fishing the Raystown Branch of the Juniata for smallies for decades. Typically in various places from Everett down to Saxton. The last couple years the fishing has just not been anywhere near what we’re used to. Number of fish we’re catching is way down and so is the average size. In addition to this, we’ve noticed that we haven’t been catching many if any Rockies or sunfish like we always did in the river.
Is anyone else experiencing the same thing or have any thoughts on what might be the issue? Is there a water quality problem?
The river was always our summer oasis when it got too hot for trout fishing and it has been extremely disheartening the last couple seasons. Curious to see if anyone has any knowledge or thoughts.
